simple, affordable, and effective hooks -- a staple of my household
I've been a fan of these hooks for many years -- I am fairly certain that I bought my first set of them at a discount store about 15 years ago before I went to college. One hung over my dorm room door and was a good catch-all for my jackets and tote bags, and the other hook hung over my bathroom door and held my big towel.I was really glad I had these particular hooks because I knew the thicker plastic or heavier metal over-the-door hooks wouldn't have fit. My dorm room had those heavy metal doors with no real gap between the door and the doorframe. These hooks have a very low profile and don't obstruct the closing of any door that I've ever put them on. Without these hooks, I would've had to resort to 3M Command hooks in my dorm room since we weren't allowed to do any drilling, but Command hooks probably wouldn't have held my heaviest items as well as these. Plus, the installation of these hooks is so much more simple and foolproof, obviously. These metal hooks look thin and they're very lightweight, but they are sturdy and strong and never bend even under heavy loads (winter coats, loaded tote bags, you name it.) The metal reminds me of airplane-grade aluminum. Also, the rubbery white coating grips quite effectively. Even slippery nylon jackets stay on the hook well, regardless of whether you're opening and closing the door a lot. I've also never had the coating crack or slide off.Over the years I've taken these hooks with me to numerous houses and apartments. I've used them for clothing and towels, of course, but also they've worked to hang an ironing board behind my laundry room door and to suspend shoe organizers from my closet door. The one con of this product? They're really easy to leave behind when you move (you just forget they are hanging there because they are so inconspicuous and almost feel like a fixture of the house) so I've had to buy a few more sets here and there. After a recent move I accidentally left my set of hooks behind with my old roommate, and since she loved them too, I told her I would just buy more for myself.Alas, after looking at my regular discount store sources, the hooks were nowhere to be found, but Amazon came to the rescue! I was excited to find that these were the same exact hooks I've been buying for 15 years. No frills -- just a sturdy hook that fits on pretty much any standard door and, like I said, it actually works to hold your clothing and other items (unlike some of the fancy decorative hooks you might screw into the wall where smooth items just slide right off.) They aren't fancy, but they really work, and they're so versatile to have in your home that I bet you won't care about the lack of fancy.

hard to find
These are only available in a couple places I found, but they fit perfectly in our carport gutter for hanging whatever we need to hang.

Hold lots more than most shorter hooks
From these deeper Spectrum hooks, I can (and do) hang a lot more per hook of belts, bags, scarves, tops and pants with loops, necklaces, towels, bathrobes and other items than from the short, much more common hooks I've found. Also, I've always been able to shut my room and closet doors while these are hanging over the top, unlike some other styles. My biggest problem when trying to gather stuff off the floors and furniture is that most over-the-door and stick-on wall hooks hold frustratingly few things, and some don't allow you to shut the door all the way. I've become the reluctant hook expert in my household because these Spectrum rounded hooks can be so useful, especially when they hold a group of like items -- like winter jackets or scarves; when the hooks themselves are shorter or more shallow, they often hold no more than one purse, tie or spare clothing hanger, for instance. When bare or exposed, they're nothing great to look at, so I've never placed them in areas that are exposed to guests or rooms that are otherwise aesthetically pleasing. Short of that, they stay hanging in place with or without holding stuff.

Towel Hamper Hanger
My boyfriend and I recently moved to a new apartment that had some different challenges than our old place, mainly the space. Our bedroom walk in closet is much smaller, but we have more coat closets throughout the new apartment. This led to me having to get creative with my items (like old bridesmaid dresses towel hamper and wrapping paper) needing hung or stored. I was looking all over amazon for a product that hangs over the door for these uses. When I found these I fell in love. When I received them I was even more in love. They are packaged in one wrapping and kinda "stuck" together at first, so you have to wiggle them apart. This wasn't too much of a hassle though. The white 'silicone' that is on the curved end and the straight end make them item amazing. You don't hear any sliding around of the metal because this keeps them from sliding. The white worked great for me personally because my doors at the new apartment are white, so it's like the items I hang on them are hanging on air because they blend in so well. I have one of them holding my bathroom towel hamper and it is amazing how much weight it holds (up to 15 pounds so far). I would recommend this product for anyone needing to get creative with space like I needed to, or if you just like to hang things over your door!

Two for the price of one, gets the job done
I purchased the Spectrum Over the Door Metal Hook (2pk set) to use with a canvas shoe rack that was to hang on the back side of my bedroom door, but didn't come with the hardware (said it was included in the pack...) to get the job done. I looked very hard for door hooks that would be small enough to thread the grommet holes in the shoe hanger, but despite my best efforts - even these didn't work. I did manage to get the rack hung using these metal hooks and some zip ties. The metal hooks are covered in white, soft plastic, to protect the door. The top of the hook that goes over the door is not covered in this same material, but if it was, the door wouldn't shut properly - if at all. These hooks are very sturdy, and should stand up to years of use with a good amount of weight hanging on them. There's a 4.5" drop from the top of the door to the bottom of the hook, and my 1.5" door was the perfect thickness for the top of this hook.I think most people looking for a sturdy, over the door hook will appreciate these for their simple, contemporary good looks and durability.

Perfect for hanging ironing board on back of door
Yes, this set of hooks works perfectly for hanging my ironing board on the back of a door, where it is out of sight. I left off one star because it took two weeks, even with Prime shipping, for the hooks to arrive. The hooks are very sturdy and attractive.

Check thickness before ordering
Build quality is average, but thicker than expected across top of door for door to close.
