A great, fun Lego vehicle with lots of things to do
This is a really good one. Just enough pieces to make the build an interesting process - my enterprising 4.5-year-old built it all himself, with some help from me in interpreting the instructions - and a lot of fun little bits in the finished product. The resulting vehicle is sturdy and substantial, and has a lot of different things to do: - The front of the roof lifts off to allow the two firemen (both clearly men; Lego, this could have been an easy opportunity for a women or two neutral figures) to sit in their own seats inside. - The ladder lifts up, turns, and extends, and the firemen can hold the railing (which doesn't extend to the highest segment) or balance well by putting their feet into the rungs and leaning into it. - There's an enclosed compartment in the middle of the truck that holds a tool box with several tools, with the tools (wrench, saw, axe, etc.) also able to be clipped in various places on the outside of the truck. - There's a separate fire hydrant that can be connected to the truck with a "pumper hose" piece. - The main hose is a long-ish piece of braided cord with a nozzle on one end, that can be reeled up with a built-in reel on the side of the truck. There's a small "water spray" piece that can be affixed to the end of the hose, or to other pieces like the hydrant. - There's one oxygen mask/tank with visor that is pretty nifty, one of the nicer figure accessories I've seen. Having one for each figure would be nice, but this way everything that comes with the truck can fit in or on the truck. So, a successful set - lots of little things to play with and is a good lookalike for the fire trucks in our town. My son really likes it.

Where there's fire, there's a Fire Truck!
I wasn't very much into the fire sets when I was younger and I regret that. But from what I've seen of the Lego fire trucks this is one is an incredible set. Most of the Lego fire trucks have more of a European design to them. But this one looks more like a Western fire truck. It comes with a retractable ladder, two firefighters and tons of equipment which includes oxygen tanks, a hose, a buzz saw, a radio, fire extinguisher and a hammer. There is also a fire hydrant included with the set to attach the hose to. I'm not a fan of stickers, but I find the transparent stickers in this set to be to be a nice change of pace. If you like fire trucks then you'll love this set because this is a very impressive fire truck. Now the only question that remains is who doesn't like fire trucks?

The Ladder and Fire Hose Could Be Longer
This Lego fire truck seems to be well designed and it looks great. For me the roof of the cab really brings the whole thing alive - good choice of pieces by the Lego company. The fire truck is well-proportioned and has some good details. I have two small issues with this set. The first is that the ladder should include more segments so that it can extend further. I have an older Lego fire truck that came with twice as many ladder segments. The second is that the fire hose isn't long enough to reach the end of the ladder when it is fully extended. Other than these two things, this is a great Lego set. The water for the fire hose's nozzle is a nice touch.

Perfect Gift!
For a low price, this set contains tons of playability for a child. My five year old worked on his lego for about 90 minutes. Instructions were clear for at least a 7 year old. A five year old may require aid from a parent (I.e. putting stickers on). After constructing, the fire truck was complete with a few handheld accessories for the two firefighters. Overall, I recommend this set to lego newcomers since the design is not too complicated. Another well done set by the Lego Group.

Deadly to naked feet.
kids loved it, my feet not so much. This is a cool toy just like all other legos. I am just not sure how they can make something so kid friendly yet so deadly to a midnight barefoot walk to get a drink of water. I am sure there were only a few dozen pieces in the box, but I have been finding hundreds of these tiny little land mines all over the house. It's like they multiply while I am sleeping and then cast themselves out across my living room to lay in wait for me to get thirsty after bedtime. They're just little bits of plastic. but I swear when I stand on them it's like they're all holding tiny little axes and pitch forks that they shove into my feet as I wander by half awake. But the kids love 'em so I will probably buy more.

Lego Connoisseur: Updated Firetruck
One of my first sets ever was the fire control center from..."back then", it had two garages, firetruck, jeep, and helicopter. This firetruck from this generation is twice as wide (about 8 blocks worth with tires) and almost 2" longer than my older firetruck. If you can buy this for around $20, it is a steal. Here is why, 1. The platform it is built on is not modular--meaning you get each brick separate to a point you can build almost 'any red truck' you want. 2. It has a ladder with the extension, which frankly, is pretty cool. about 10" long without overdoing it. 3. It has many special pieces that are specific to the firefighters such as rotating saws, oxygen masks, etc. A few things that bugged me. 1. The method of removing people from the truck requires moving the latter...a bummer, but not a big deal. 2. The "Storage area" is really nit-picky about how you can get things in there. Things must be laid "just so" in order for it to close. 3. There is no room to store the oxygen tanks and masks that come with the characters in the rig. 4. And finally. There is NO location to put the hose. Seriously. I was actually a little surprised, since a few different parts could of been added to the front or rear bumper to put it there like a real firetruck. Overall, its a great little set. My kid loves it so that is what really matters, there are just a few pieces that always get set a side that are really tiny and easily lost. Given its design to store hammers and ratchets, I'd like a little more room for the other things that matter like fire hoses and oxygen!

Awesome design.
This set is great. I bought 2 of them at this price. This is the cheapest i've seen it and is a deal. I normally feel legos go for about $10/hundred pieces and if you can get them cheaper than that your doing really good. This set by that reasoning is a really good deal. I love the truck and ladder design. This set is a must have item for the Lego City station 60004. The truck has a lot of things that are fun for kids to play with and the design had me guessing most of th time. The front end of the truck is pretty unique design for me. I haven't boughten a new lego set in about 15+ years. I'm so glad i had a son! We build legos a lot and seeing this new lego city series has been a lot of fun. He's into Firemen so i used this as an excuse to buy the whole series 60001-60004. I've always wanted to have a whole series. This truck has no unique pieces. You can get them all elsewhere. The new flat 1x1 flats are pretty cool though and the new 1x4 flats with bubbles on the ends is also new to me. The truck is really cool looking.

Awesome fire truck!!! Legos rock as always!!!
Wow, wow, wow!!!!! What a cool Lego firetruck. My kids loved it. It was fun and fairly easy to put together even though my husband isn't a fireman and therefore lacks background knowledge on fire trucks or anything else fireman related. Still he figured out how assemble it by following the directions step by step, all the way from the first step to the last. The truck looks so cool and it made the kids so happy, that now I'm thinking my husband could have been a great fireman had he chosen that profession.

Got it at 20% off but would have been worth the full price. Nice set for the young ones!
Built it with my son (4y/o) last night. The expression on his face said it all. The firetruck is easy to build with clear instructions a reasonable amount of tiny pieces (essentials only) so the younger ones won't discourage in the building process. It has nice features like sitting places for both firemen, storage for additional equipment accessible from both sides of the truck, fully rotating and retractable ladder, hose reel, and can even be connected to the little fire hydrant. The only thing I despise from these newer lego sets it the use of stickers. The sets I owned when I was a kid had printed-on bricks instead. But overall, it looks very good and my son LOVES it!

Son loves it!
Bought this for our Sons 5th birthday! He is over the moon excited to finally get Lego. I will say, though, that he Is still a little on the young side as he sometimes has issues with getting the pieces together. Thankfully, his two older sisters are usually very willing to help. The fire truck is absolutely a big hit as well, as he loves fire trucks.
